The job market is the best it's been in 20 years. The Commerce Department estimates that U.S. businesses will need to hire one million new computer scientists, engineers, systems analysts and computer programmers by 2005. Yet graduates with degrees in computer science are being produced at a fraction of the rate needed. The Information Technology Association of America reports 190,000 current Job openings for web experts and other information-technology specialists, and similar shortages are cropping up in other industries as well. 

These market conditions provide a great opportunity to negotiate an excellent compensation package, but only if you understand how.
There are 11 basic commandments to help you negotiate the best possible deal when changing Jobs, whether internally or with a new company. They are:

1. Be prepared. The more information you have about your market value and the prospective employer, the greater your likelihood of success. This is the first commandment because it's the most important. There's a wealth of information available on the Internet, at the public library and through professional associations and networking groups. Time spent learning how to negotiate and preparing for negotiations may be the best investment you'll ever make.
2. Recognize that employment negotiations are different. When the negotiations are over, you'll have to work with the person with whom you're negotiating. Moreover, your future success may depend on that person. So, while you want to negotiate the best possible deal, you need to do so in a way that doesn't damage your image. At the same time, the employer's primary concern isn't negotiating the least expensive compensation package it can get away with. Rather, their focus will be on getting you to accept the Job.
3. Understand your needs and those of the employer. To be successful in this type of negotiation, you need to examine your priorities. What do you really want as your Job? Are you comfortable with a low salary and a large equity stake? Are you able to handle dramatic swings in income from year to year? Understanding your needs will also help you determine the type of company you want to work for. For example, a family-owned company may be able to offer a competitive salary and a large bonus based on results, but may not be willing to offer significant equity to a non-family member. Sizing up the situation and understanding the relative position of each party will help you determine when to press your advantage and when to back off.
5. Never lie, but use the truth to your advantage. It's not only wrong to lie, but in employment negotiations, it's ineffective. If you lie during negotiations, sooner or later you're likely to be caught. Once you are, even if you don't lose the offer, you'll be at a tremendous disadvantage, and your credibility will always be suspect. On the other hand, total candor won't be rewarded. You're under no obligation to blurt out everything you know. You can determine what you want to say and how you want to say it, and try to put everything in its most positive light. One key element of your preparation should be to recognize areas of concern so you can rehearse how to handle them when they inevitably come up.
6. Understand the role fairness plays in the process. The guiding principle for most employers when negotiating is fairness. Within the constraints of their budget and organizational structure, employers usually will agree to anything that's fair and reasonable to hire someone they want. Appeals to fairness are your most powerful weapon. Thus, you should be able to justify every request you make in terms of fairness. For example, if other computer programmers in similar companies are being given sign-on bonuses, you should expect to be treated no differently. Your prospective employer will want you to accept its offer and feel that you've been treated fairly. Understanding the importance of fairness as a negotiating principle can make the difference between success and failure.
7. Use uncertainty to your advantage. The more information you convey to a potential employer about your bottom line, the more likely it will limit what you get. Before making an offer, a company typically tries to determine what it will take for you to accept the position. With that information, the prospective employer will be able to determine the minimum package it needs to offer. While they may not offer you as little as they can get away with, if you've divulged too much information, they likely won't offer you as much as they might have otherwise. By not disclosing exactly what your current compensation is or exactly what it would take to get you to leave your Job, you'll force a potential employer to make its best offer.
8. Be creative. Consider the value of the total package. Look for different ways to achieve your objectives. Be willing to make tradeoffs to increase the total value of the deal. If you're creative, you can package what you want in ways that will be acceptable to the company. You'll also be able to find creative "trades" that allow you to withdraw requests that might be problematic to the company in return for improvements in areas where the company has more flexibility. That way, you can maximize the value of the package you negotiate.
9. Focus on your goals, not on winning. Too often in negotiations, the act of winning becomes more important than achieving your goals. And it's also important not to make your future boss feel as if he's lost in the negotiations. You'll have gained little by negotiating a good deal if you alienate your future boss in the process.
10. Know when to quit bargaining. The one sure way to lose everything you've obtained is to be greedy. There comes a point in every negotiation when you've achieved everything you could have reasonably expected to gain. While most companies will want to treat you fairly and make you happy, few companies want to hire a prima donna. Being perceived as greedy or unreasonable may cause the deal to fall apart. Even if it doesn't, you'll have done immeasurable harm to your Career. This brings us to the 11th and most important commandment, 
11. Never forget that employment is an ongoing relationship. Job negotiations are the starting point for your career with a company. Get too little and you're disadvantaged throughout your Career there; push too hard and you can sour the relationship before it begins.

Understanding these principles will allow you to effectively negotiate the terms of your new Job. Then do your job well and continually seek out new challenges. As you take on added responsibilities and learn new skills, there will be opportunities to negotiate further improvements.

      requires 3 years of experience in sales, make sure your resume highlights the

3. ORGANIZATION SKILLS REQUIRED

BELAJAR DASAR MENGGAMBAR : Menguasai tehnik Arsir dan Gradasi

Info Dalam Pekerjaan - Menguasai teknik arsir dan gradasi adalah salah satu teknik dasar menggambar dengan pensil. Arsir gradasi akan membantu ketajaman mata agar mengenal tingkat intensitas cahaya sehingga dapat melihat daerah terang dan gelap suatu obyek. Latihan arsir gradasi juga sangat membantu ketika Anda membuat bayangan dari suatu obyek.

Beberapa langkah yangharus dilakukan saat belajar Arsir:

• Berlatih teknik arsir gradasi dapat  mulai dengan membuat satu baris kotak.
• Jumlahnya bebas terserah  seperti gambar di bawah ini. Kemudian arsirlah setiap kotaknya dengan satu jenis ukuran pensil.
• Contoh kotak pertama diarsir dengan pensil 2H, kemudian kotak kedua diarsir dengan pensil H, dan seterusnya.
• Ketika mengarsir semua dilakukan dengan tekanan yang sama.
• Lihat perbedaan intensitas gelap terang yang dihasilkan setiap pensil.
• Kemudian arsir gradasi dapat dihasilkan dengan cara lain yaitu buatlah beberapa baris kotak seperti gambar di bawah ini.
• Lalu menggunakan beberapa jenis pensil, misalnya pensil B, 4B, dan 9B.
• Arsirlah baris kotak bagian atas dengan pensil B, kemudian arsirlah setiap kotaknya dengan tingkat tekanan pensil yang berbeda.
• Lihat intensitas gelap terang yang dihasilkan dengan pensil B. Memahami pengetahuan dasar menggambar bayangan sebuah benda adalah prionsip dasar yang harus diketahui pemula. Selain kreatifitas dan keindahan tetapi bila logika dasar menggambar bayangan tidak dimiliki akan mengurangi keindahan gambar yang di buat

Adapun langkah belajar menggambar bayangan benda adalah sebagai berikut:

• Semua obyek yang terkena sinar matahari, cahaya lampu, lilin, dan sebagainya akan menghasilkan bayangan pada obyek tersebut.
• Jatuhnya bayangan sebuah obyek tergantung darimana arah datangnya sinar tersebut.
• Jika arah datangnya cahaya berasal dari depan maka bayangan sebuah obyek ada di belakang.
• Begitu pun sebaliknya jika arah datangnya cahaya berasal dari belakang maka bayangan sebuah obyek ada di depan.
• Kalau arah datangnya cahaya ada diatas sebuah obyek maka sedikit terjadi bayangan di sekitar obyek tersebut.
• Bayangan yang dihasilkan oleh sinar matahari, dan cahaya lampu akan berbeda bayangannya.
• Perhatikan juga perbedaan waktu antara siang hari dan malam hari. Cahaya di luar dan di dalam ruangan menghasilkan bayangan yang berbeda pada suatu obyek.
• Terdapat perbedaan bila menggambar di luar dan di dalam ruangan pada siang dan malam hari. PERSIAPAN

• Setiap ada kesempatan untuk berlibur ke luar kota, jangan lupa persiapkan buku sketsa dan peralatan gambar.
• Banyak obyek pemandangan alam yang indah dan menarik, sayang jika kesempatan ini sampai terlewatkan.
• Tempat-tempat yang di kunjungi ke dalam bisa di simpan dalam sketsa gambar
• Kamu bisa memulai dengan mencari obyek pemandangan yang terbuka.

LANGKAH DALAM MENGAMBAR

• Buatlah beberapa sketsa kasar untuk mengatur komposisi gambar.
• Gambarlah secara keseluruhan, hindarkan untuk ingin menggambar secara detail.
• Pertimbangkan obyek-obyek gambar yang mau kamu masukkan dan keluarkan ke dalam sketsa.

BELAJAR MENGGAMBAR : Cara menggambar wajah

Menggambar foto wajah selain sebagai hobi dapat juga berguna untuk pengembangan kemampuan visual dalam menggambar sebuah objek yang realis, seperti objek manusia atau objek tiga dimensi lainnya dalam bidang dua dimensi.

Terdapat dua macam menggambar foto wajah; yang pertama yaitu memindahkan wajah dalam foto ke bidang gambar semirip mungkin dan yang kedua memindahkan wajah dalam foto ke bidang gambar hanya dengan mengambil esensi dari wajah yang akan digambar. Pada kasus yang pertama dibutuhkan kemampuan visual yang cermat serta pengetahuan dasar mengenai anatomi wajah manusia. Sedangkan pada kasus yang kedua selain memiliki kamampuan visual dan pengetahuan anatomi wajah, juga dibutuhkan kemampuan membaca karakter dari objek.

Beberapa tips dalam menggambar foto wajah:

1. untuk mempermudah proses penggambaran, sangat dianjurkan untuk membiasakan mata kita melihat objek yang akan digambar, dalam hal ini foto wajah yang akan digambar
2. Peletakan objek yang akan digambar juga sebaiknya berdekatan atau seolah-olah berdekatan dengan bidang gambar

Info Dalam Pekerjaan - Banyak pertanyaan seputar bagaimana memasuki dunia jurnalistik ketika sebuah lowongan dipasang. Bagaimana caranya ? Mengapa saya gagal ? Saya baru lulus bisakah masuk ke dunia jurnalistik. Lalu mau melamar bagaimana caranya ? Harus cari Info Dalam Pekerjaan, bagaimana caranya ?

Pertanyaan serupa pernah muncul dalam benak saya sebelum memasuki dunia jurnalistik.

Jika minat sudah ada, maka mulailah bertindak menuju dunia jurnalistik dengan banyak menulis, banyak membuat analisa dan membuat opini di media massa di kota Anda. Identifikasi minat Anda. Bila berminat di dunia sastra, mulailah dengan menulis puisi, prosa atau cerpen. 

Mulailah sekarang juga apalagi bagi yang akan lulus. Tulisan Anda di sebuah media daerah atau bahkan media nasional akan memperkuat bobot Anda dibandingkan dengan rekan lainnya ketika sama-sama mengajukan lamaran ke sebuah perusahaan.

Jika tidak bisa dimuat, saran Mochtar Lubis, buatlah tulisan setiap hari – sekali lagi setiap hari – di buku harian Anda. Membiasakan memberi komentar dan deskripsi akan memberikan kekuatan dan modal penting dalam liputan di masa datang. Kebiasaan menulis buku harian – tidak selalu tentang romantisme Anda – mengenai topik sosial, nasional dan internasional akan membuat Anda terbiasa dan terbuka dalam mengajuka pendapat. Anda juga bisa terbiasa menuliskan secara runtut dan logis.

Jikalau sudah selesai, kaji dan baca kembali. Siapa tahu memang dari situ kelihatan bakat Anda dalam penulisan. Tidak selalu tentu tulisan pertama akan menjadi karya yang terpuji, tetapi Anda telah mengawali langkah untuk memasuki karir di dunia jurnalistik.

Sekali lagi mulailah menulis. Tulis apa saja, beri komentar apa saja. Lalu perlahan-lahan buatlah ulasan terhadap peristiwa yang menarik minat Anda. Keluarkanlah seluruh pengetahuan dan daya analisa Anda, niscaya ini akan menuntun ke dunia lebih luas dalam tahap awal dunia jurnalistik.

Jangan menyerah jika selama satu hari, Anda tidak menulis apapun karena merasa buntu pikiran. Saat kesulitan seperti itulah yang menentukan apakah Anda menyerah atau terus maju. Ide atau inspirasi biasanya akan cepat timbul disaat dan tempat yang tidak dapat kamu duga, maka selalu bawa buku catatan kecilmu untuk segera Anda tuliskan. Seringlah membaca hal apa pun, maka Anda dapat terbiasa melakukan penulisan.

Info Dalam Pekerjaan - Pernahkah Anda merasa iri dengan karyawan baru? Tentu saja bukan iri dengan gaji atau tanggung jawabnya, tetapi iri melihat antusiasme mereka yang menggebu-gebu dalam mengerjakan tugas mereka. Setiap bentuk Pekerjaan yang dibebankan ke mereka diperlakukan seperti hal baru yang menuntut keterampilan dan rasa ingin tahu yang besar.

Sementara Anda yang sudah lebih lama bekerja, menghadapi setiap hari kerja seperti sebuah momok besar yang membosankan. Setelah task rutin Anda selesaikan, tidak ada lagi hal yang bisa dilakukan. Lalu rasa bosan pun mulai muncul.

Jangan biarkan hal ini berlarut-larut. Membiarkannya begitu saja tanpa mengambil tindakan apapun tentunya akan mempengaruhi produktifitas dan kinerja kerja Anda. Beberapa hal sederhana yang bisa membantu Anda membunuh rasa bosan di tempat kerja adalah sebagai berikut :

   1. Kreatif dengan menciptakan tantangan baru. Jika target kerja Anda sudah sukses dilaksanakan hari ini, daripada bengong memandangi jam berharap jarum-jarumnya bergerak lebih cepat, cobalah untuk memikirkan cara lain untuk menyelesaikan Pekerjaan Anda. Tuliskan rencana kerja Anda dan jangan takut untuk berimprovisasi. Set target pribadi yang lebih besar dari yang sudah ditetapkan perusahaan untuk Anda. Jangan tunggu Info Dalam Pekerjaan yang memberikan semangat, namun ciptakan excitement dan tantangan saat Anda bekerja.

   2. Declutter meja kerja. Bersihkan dan rapikan meja kerja Anda. Singkirkan barang-barang yang tidak berguna lagi. Kumpulkan kertas-kertas bekas dan reuse untuk kertas fotokopi atau memo. Selain membuat konsentrasi sering terpecah, terlalu banyak barang yang tidak jelas kegunaannya di meja juga mempengaruhi mood kerja.    3. Ibaratkan Pekerjaan sebagai sebuah permainan atau game. Contohnya, anggap database karyawan yang harus Anda rekapitulasi adalah musuh di Mafia Wars atau Anda sedang bertempur dengan atasan yang terus ‘memberondong’ Anda dengan ‘peluru’ alias Pekerjaan.

   4. Tambah pengetahuan. Tidak harus di bidang yang berhubungan dengan Pekerjaan, namun bidang apa saja yang menarik perhatian dan memberikan manfaat nantinya. Internet adalah sumber pengetahuan yang tak terbatas. Anda hanya perlu berhati-hati dengan untuk memilih sumber yang kompetensinya yang bisa dipercaya.

   5. Pertajam keterampilan, baik hard maupun soft skill. Tantang diri Anda untuk menguasai bidang yang membantu Pekerjaan Anda. Tentu saja Anda harus melakukannya sendiri atau self taught. Misalnya berlatih menggunakan berbagai fitur di Adobe InDesign, crank berbagai widget, atau apapun yang bisa meningkatkan keterampilan kerja Anda.

   6. Organize your file. Saat keadaan mulai membosankan, cobalah untuk melihat data yang sudah tersimpan sekian lama di komputer. Kelompokkan setiap file dalam kategorinya masing-masing untuk memudahkan pencarian nantinya. Hapus file yang sudah lama dan tidak terpakai lagi. Back up data-data penting. Data yang tersusun rapi akan membantu Anda bekerja. Selain itu menyusun atau membersihkan sesuatu akan memberikan sense of accomplishment sehingga semangat dan mood Anda membaik kembali.

   7. Bersihkan inbox Anda. Start a new fresh start. Balas atau respon email, hapus email lama atau letakkan di temporary folder. Jika inbox Anda mencapai ribuan, letakkan semua di temporary folder.

   8. Lemaskan otot. Bangun dari kursi Anda dan berjalan untuk melancarkan peredaran darah Anda setelah sekian jam duduk. Jika perlu, lakukan squats, push up atau sit up. Lakukan di ruang tertutup jika Anda malu dilihat teman kerja. Anda bisa keluar kantor untuk sementara, melihat pemandangan alam atau hal yang berbeda dibandingkan dengan meja dan dinding kantor Anda.

   9. Dengarkan musik. Koleksi lagu-lagu yang bisa membuat Anda bersemangat dan membuat mood Anda membaik dan kinerja meningkat setiap kali Anda mendengarnya.
